Handicap International has finalised the construction of six accessible latrine blocks (composed of one latrine for women and one for men) in Jedaah 6 IDP camp, Ninewa Governorate. The latrines were designed in line with universal design standards so as to allow persons with functional limitations to safely access and use them. The construction of the latrines is part of project funded by the Government of Norway. The project aims at identifying the needs of persons with injuries, disabilities and functional limitations, and at raising awareness of humanitarian actors on how to better include vulnerable population in humanitarian response. Lessons learned from the construction of the latrines will be used to advocate towards humanitarian actors for inclusive programming and ensuring the services provided are accessible to persons with functional limitations.
