DFAT - Myanmar Aid Program Performance Report 2018-19

This report assesses the performance of Australian aid in Myanmar from July 2018 to June 2019 against the objectives of the Myanmar Aid Investment Plan (2015-2020). In 2018-19, Australia provided an estimated $90.0 million in official development assistance to Myanmar.

Australia's aid program in Myanmar helps support inclusive economic growth and increased trade by strengthening government capacity, promoting peace and stability, and supporting the development of an educated and competitive workforce.

The report finds the majority of Australia's aid investments either maintained or improved their performance since the last reporting period. There was an improvement in results achieved under the democratic governance portfolio and our humanitarian investments across Myanmar. Increased attention to, and advocacy of gender inclusion across all investments and sustained action by our implementing partners, dramatically improved gender ratings. Our education portfolio continued to be our aid flagship program enabling improved schooling environments for over 10 million Myanmar students, and helping at-risk students to access, and stay at school (with a retention rate of 99 percent for at–risk students receiving a stipend).
