The aim of the workshops is to gather together a small number of peers to discuss how to improve the power and impact of humanitarian evaluation and to identify concrete actions that might lead to improvement. These workshops (currently three are planned but more may be carried out subsequently) build upon the earlier ALNAP workshop on evaluation capacities that took place in London in September.
There are four objectives of the workshop:
• Building an understanding of what organisational changes work in improving the impact of humanitarian evaluation, and what doesn’t work
• Identifying concrete changes at the organisational and systemic level to begin to put this understanding into action
• Further building a community of practice around the issue, and experimenting with a peer learning methodology which may be useful to this community of practice in the future
• Discussing the framework and the self-assessment tool to see how these can be improved as devices to improve analysis and debate in the future.
