Final Independent Evaluation report on ACF's Humanitarian Assistance on water, sanitation and hygiene to the population in Zimbabwe

This report reflects on the evaluation of the water and sanitation project in Insiza and Umzingwane districts in Matabeleland South province, which aimed to increase access to sustainable potable water and sanitation services. While the project was intended to reduce the rates of mortality and morbidity from WASH related diseases, specific objectives included: 1) access to sustainable potable water; 2) access to sanitation facilities; 3) health and hygiene promotion, with 4) local stakeholders involvement; 5) conduct of WASH related diseases surveillance. The project was implemented between February 2009 and January 2011.

The evaluation was conducted from 27 February 27 to 28 March 2011. After document study and an intensive debriefing - WASH Coordinator, the Programme Manager and technical staff - fieldwork was planned and 26 sites were visited, accompanied by stakeholder representatives. Upon completion of the evaluation a debriefing workshop was held.
