The “Consolidate Direct Assistance and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Services in Egypt (CARE)” project was implemented between 1 August 2017 and 31 December 2019 (29 months), funded by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by IOM Egypt. The project duration was originally between 1 August 2017 and 31 October 2019, but in October 2019 it received a no-cost extension until 31 December 2019. The overall objective of the project was to “Strengthen migrants’ protection and access to enhanced need and right-based assistance and durable solutions.” Geographic coverage was Egypt, Comoros, Ethiopia and Sudan, and the project budget was EUR 2,000,000. Central to the project delivery was IOM Egypt’s Migrant Protection and Assistance (MPA) unit, which provides tailored assistance on a case-by-case basis, aimed at bolstering the well-being and protection of vulnerable migrants in Egypt.
