The Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) Community-Based Health and First-Aid (CBHFA) Programme started to develop activities in Loikaw Township and Demawso Township in 2014. The CBHFA approach is based on the involvement of Red Cross volunteers of the Township (branch) Red Cross society. This baseline survey of Community-Based Health and First-Aid was conducted in May 2014.

The main aim of this survey is to provide data about the current situation of health, First-Aid, water and sanitation, and disaster conditions in the study villages. Cross sectional design was used among the respondents in twenty villages in Loikaw Township and Demawso Township. Data collection took place in March 2014. Mixed methods of qualitative and quantitative surveys have been conducted. Data were collected by direct observation and interviews including both qualitative and quantitative.
