When conflict erupted in Gaza in late 2008, Souktel designed a customised, web based platform that let the Red Cross send large numbers of SMS alerts in a matter of seconds, requesting urgent blood donations from their database of thousands of donors. This paper summarizes the lessons learned and provides recommendations for similar actions.
