Examine the execution of ECHO funded programme of assistance carried out by AVSI between Dec 1994 and Jun 1995.

The Italian NGO Associazione Volontari per il Servizio internationale ( AVSI ) was entrusted
to assist Sudanese refugees, entering Kitgum District, Northern Uganda in channelling them
to Acholpii settlement. Once arrived there, land, seeds, food, medicine and education is provided to enable 21,000 refugees (April 1995) to reach some degree of self-sufficiency.
Second target group of AVSI operations are 150,000 displaced people in the Sudan who are assisted with emergency goods and development aid items by using the structures of the diocese of Torit.
AVSI cooperates with UNHCR and other donors and with local authorities on both sides of the border.
