On 1 September 2022, the DEC launched the Pakistan Floods Appeal after heavy monsoon rains led to the worst flooding on record. The appeal raised £46.5 million in the first six months.
This report looks at the DEC response over the first six months, including:

  • The humanitarian context of the situation, that led to 33 million people being affected across 94 districts of Pakistan
  • How the UK public, businesses and community groups responded to the crisis by donating and raising funds for the appeal
  • The ways in which DEC charities are using funds to help meet the urgent and long-term needs of hundreds of thousands of people in need by working both directly with communities and through 23 different local partners
  • Challenges faced by the DEC and its member charities in responding to such a large-scale destructive disaster, working with many who live close to or below the poverty line
  • Ways in which the DEC and its members can help to improve general humanitarian delivery in future, so that the needs of people affected by disasters are met efficiently and with dignity
  • What comes in the next 18 months of the DEC response, as we move into Phase 2 of our response.
