Across the world, host states tend to favour return as the preferred durable solution for refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). But the sheer number of displaced people worldwide, which reached over 50 million in 2014, coupled with the persistence of protracted displacement situations, highlights the need to explore other durable solutions, such as resettlement and local integration. In this Evaluation and Learning Brief Danish Refugee Council (DRC) highlights the lessons learned from its work in Georgia over the last 16 years, where the Government has actively pursued the local integration of its IDP population since late 2008.
