The Strengthening Social Cohesion and Stability in Slum Populations (SSCoS) project is a 42-month initiative of International Organisation for Migration (IOM), with funding support from the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF). Implementation of the project started in August 2016 and is expected to close in February 2020. The project is being implemented in four slum areas of Kampala namely: Bwaise, Katwe, Kisenyi and Kabalagala in the three (3) Divisions of Kawempe, Central and Makindye. SSCoS’s overall objective is to tackle the root causes ofinter-communal conflict in slum populations by addressing the sources of grievances such as unemployment and by strengthening community cohesion around shared development assets.
