The objectives of the Somriddhi Project were that cyclone SIDR-affected households earn income during the lean seasons and that cyclone-affected communities were better prepared for future disasters. Somriddhi included asset vouchers, livestock care trainings, cash-for-work activities to rebuild damaged infrastructure, and a range of household and community preparedness activities. The project included community-based monitoring and strong beneficiary accountability. The project was evaluated for its appropriateness, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability.
