Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has joined an increasing number of humanitarian actors who have recently started to better coordinate and to diversify their services in the settlements. The focus of DRC, apart from occasional NFI distribution, is a livelihoods program that intends to equip beneficiaries with income generating skills. In their multi – year strategy DRC has decided to incorporate protection considerations in the response to urban displacement. This study serves to: - identify protection problems in the KIS as felt by the residents themselves, - reveal protection issues of children, youth and adults in the KIS differentiated also by gender, - inform programming by pointing to potential responsive protection projects in the KIS and/or to entry points for mainstreaming protection into DRCs other KIS projects, - provide protection relevant information useful also in other urban or peri-urban contexts where DRC may expand their Afghanistan program in the near future, - inform advocacy messages as appropriate.
