This report is an end-of-project evaluation of the Community Based Psychosocial Project implemented in Republics of Ingushetia and Chechnya during the period of August 2003 to July 2004. The field evaluation was completed in June 2004. The results show program success in meeting its main objective of promoting psychosocial healing and coping among Chechen displacees, particularly in promoting a sense of cohesion and support among beneficiaries. During the current period of implementation, some 838 beneficiaries have participated in individual counseling and self-help groups, 141 in structured learning activities. An additional 1,200 to 1,400 have participated in regular social and recreational activities, while about 1,200 have partaken in various community cultural events. Some 2,914 are estimated to have benefited from CARE’s capacity building projects.
