Infant andYoung Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) is concerned with interventions to protect, promote and support safe and appropriate (recommended) feeding practices for both breastfed and non-breastfed infants and young children in all emergencies wherever they happen in the world. Sub-optimal infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices increase vulnerability to under-nutrition, disease and death.
The importance of actions to protect and support safe and appropriate IYCF-E is now well recognised and reflected in various documents.
