Impact Assessment of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL Liberia WASH programmes 2010-2012

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) WASH programme in South-Eastern Liberia has been established in 2004. Over the years, SI intervention in Liberia has evolved from an emergency response to a more development-oriented one. In recent years, SI also focused on remote areas, excluded from development efforts. Overall since 2004, SI built or rehabilitated 368 water points in Maryland and Grand Kru Counties and 1677 latrines. Today, the Government has entered into a development phase, with a WASH sector strategic plan for the next 5 years, but it will take time before the GoL takes over, especially in remote areas of South-Eastern. This evaluation follows the impact assessment led in 2010 and is focused on CLTS approach and hand-pump maintenance issue. It also provides recommendations on the SI exit strategy.
