This independent report presented by DARA confirms that humanitarian aid in Somalia has saved thousands of lives between the years 2005 to 2010.

The report is based on an evaluation of the humanitarian response in south-central Somalia and is one of the most comprehensive evaluations of aid in Somalia ever conducted. In 2011, a massive scale-up in humanitarian assistance meant that half a million people and three out of six areas in Somalia are no longer affected by famine, although they are still in a state of humanitarian emergency.
