As of 2011, there still are lessons to be learned from Hurricane Katrina, its survivors, and the government assistance efforts, linked to the background effects of poverty and vulnerability.

Key findings of this rapid on-set disaster are presented. Ethical implications for humanitarian assistance building on the theory of obligation, and the provision of recommendations on how to resolve some issues with natural disasters in the United States, also are featured.
