The Office of Development Effectiveness (ODE) at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has released its evaluation of Australia’s response to the Horn of Africa Humanitarian crisis, 2011. The evaluation aimed to assess the effectiveness of Australia’s response and identify how to improve Australian humanitarian assistance to future slow-onset crises. The evaluation found that Australia’s response was in keeping with the magnitude of the crisis. Australia’s leadership role and the speed and flexibility of Australia’s response were notable strengths.
