CARE International Indonesia Java Earthquake Response After Action Review

An After Action Review (AAR) was held in Jakarta on the 5th-6th December, facilitated by Marge Tsitouris, a consultant with significant CARE experience. The result was that both detail on the response as well as important bigger picture issues were raised and discussed.

The AAR suggests that this was generally a successful response: simple and focused with a clear exit strategy. The most salient lesson learned was that certain components of the programme were not appropriate to a short term response, since they required behavioural changes among beneficiaries that would take longer to occur than the programme’s duration.
