Building Resilient Communities: Linking Climate Change and DRR in Action Plans DRR or CCA: What matters in the end is resilient community. And that is what this issue aims at. Disasters are often seen as extraordinary events that occur suddenly to cause widespread loss of life and property in the communities they strike. However, there are underlying causes of vulnerability that keep on incrementally increasing the exposure of a community to a disaster in over time. Thus, resilience building in an exercise of systematically identifying and reducing these underlying causes of vulnerability to build resilient communities.

This issue of Southasiadisasters.net focuses on the theme of ‘Building Resilient Communities: Linking Climate Change and DRR in Action Plans’ and highlights important areas for resilience building across different levels. Not only does this issue highlight the existing underlying causes of vulnerability but the emerging ones as well.
