Event Description

Information technology has had an enormous, and sometimes overlooked, impact on the delivery of humanitarian aid.

From the much discussed examples of the internet, mobile phone take up and usage and use of satellite imagery in mapping, to less well understood examples such as the humble electronic mail, technological innovation has contributed to significant changes in the way that humanitarian aid is delivered.

This panel looked at how humanitarians have responded to these changes, as well as how technology has changed humanitarians – our organisations and our work – in ways that are often unforeseen and unplanned.
