Event II: Evaluation in every nation – strengthening capacities to achieve the SDGs

Time: 13:00 - 14:45 (Rome time)

In 2014, a UN General Assembly resolution called on the UN to support capacity building for the evaluation of development activities at the country level. Seven years later, with the SDGs off track and COVID-19 testing the boundaries of remote evaluation approaches, there is a renewed sense of urgency to strengthen national evaluation capacities to learn and steer a more precise course to developmental objectives. This event presents the diverse national evaluation capacity development (NECD) work initiated by WFP across countries and continents, features new initiatives with partners and explores future activities in building a strong culture of evaluation in every nation. The session offers the opportunity for discussion and knowledge exchange among participants and panellists on this most critical area.
