Panel Presentation and Plenary questions:

In the first part of the session, presentations will provide an overview of the following data collection methods and their use in humanitarian contexts. At the end of the presentation, the floor will be open for questions and reflections.

  • Citizen-Generated Data by Rebecca Firth
  • Big data by Michael Bamberger

Interactive discussion

After the presentations, the participants will be invited to one of the break-out rooms to share their experience and to discuss insights on the following themes based on the methods presented:

    • What are the practical implications for use in different humanitarian evaluation contexts?
    • What is the medium-term/long-term feasibility of adapting these methods for practical use in humanitarian evaluation?
    • Are there challenges and ethical issues around the use of those methods for humanitarian evaluations? Is so, what are they?
