With the aim of supporting this increasing use of e-transfers in humanitarian interventions, the Cash Learning Partnership (CaLP) commissioned a report,5 in 2011, highlighting the benefits new technologies can bring to humanitarian programmes as well as some of the challenges which are barriers to more widespread adoption. Building on this previous work, and responding to the increasing interest of its community of practice, in 2013, CaLP launched, a three-component research initiative focused exclusively on e-transfers, to build evidence, capacity and develop standards and tools for the humanitarian sector. This research, which seeks to provide guidance on e-transfer programme implementation; an analysis of the cost effectiveness of e-transfers compared to manual cash transfers and beneficiary data protection advice, includes three publications:

  1. E-transfers in Emergencies: Implementation Support Guidelines
  2. Factors Affecting the Cost-efficiency of Electronic Transfers in Humanitarian Programmes
  3. Protecting Beneficiary Privacy: Principles and Operational Standards for the Secure Use of Personal Data in E-Transfer Programmes
