EU - Lebanon partnership: The compact

The European Union and Lebanon adopted a Compact in 2016 to guide their efforts to improve the living conditions of both Syrian refugees in Lebanon and vulnerable host communities.

OBJECTIVES OF THE EU-LEBANON COMPACT
-to strengthen mutual cooperation between Lebanon and the EU over the period 2016-2020
-to support the stabilization of the country to provide an appropriate and safe environment for refugees and displaced persons from Syria, including their residency status, and a beneficial environment for vulnerable host communities;
-to increase the resilience of the Lebanese national economy, infrastructures and
-to invest into job-creating projects to allow needs, including humanitarian needs, to be addressed in an effective, dignified and fair manner
