Since the introduction of the 2010 UNDAF guidelines
, there have been requests from various stakeholders and
UN Country Teams (UNCT) preparing their United Nations Development Assistance Frameworks (UNDAF) about
UNDAF types and format, and its practical application in different country contexts. With this in view, a small
team in the United Nations Development Operations Country Coordination (UNDOCO) undertook a desk review
of 24 UNDAFs commencing in 2013 (see Annex I). The review identified current examples of UNDAFs in
different regional and country contexts and in some cases lessons learned from the Delivering as One (DaO)
experience.
Of the 24 UNDAFs available, 11 country examples2
have been selected. The examples presented are for
information only and have been selected to represent a cross-section of country typologies. Further UNDAFs
could not be included in the analysis due to limitations in time and space, the duplication of typology, and the
need to maintain a balance of all UN languages (English, French and Spanish) in the examples. The 11 examples
selected cover the following country context:
? Least Developed Country (LDC) - including DaO countries;
? Middle Income Country (MIC) - including a DaO country;
? Transition/crisis country - including a DaO country.
