Rhetoric or reality? Putting affected people at the centre of humanitarian action

Humanitarians are increasingly interested in defining what exactly is meant by terms such as engagement, accountability and participation, and looking at how these ideas can be turned into reality on the ground.

Taking up the discussions at ALNAP's 29th Annual Meeting in Addis Ababa in March 2014, this study sheds a light on key issues constraining engagement with and accountability to affected people, takes a look at the current state of engagement and identifies lessons to be learnt.
