The Evaluation of FAO’s Role and Work Related to Water1 was presented to the Hundred and Third Session of the Programme Committee (12 - 16 April 2010). The Evaluation made 35 recommendations.

In the Management Response, the Secretariat welcomed the Evaluation and accepted 13 recommendations, partially accepted 21 and rejected 1. Of the 34 recommendations accepted totally or in part, Management considered that 22 would require further funding while 12 could be implemented without additional funding.

This follow-up report reflects the efforts made by the Organization in implementing the recommendations and reports progress on all but 3 of them. The main factors that have contributed to this progress include alignment of 2010-11 work plans to target the Evaluation recommendations, the mobilization of additional extrabudgetary resources, and greater collaboration between FAO units working on water.
