For several years it has broadly been agreed by the humanitarian community and donors alike that the insufficient coordination of humanitarian needs assessment practices has weakened evidence based decision making and effective humanitarian response.

Several initiatives have recently been established to build capacity for coordinated needs assessments, including the IASC Needs Assessment Task Force (NATF) and the Assessment Capacities (ACAPS) project.

This workshop brought together key representatives from a variety of relevant institutions and backgrounds and aimed
1. To review recent joint multi-sector needs assessment practice
2. To identify gaps in capacity for joint multi-sector needs assessment practice
3. To identify appropriate solutions to fill gaps in capacity to do joint multi-sector needs assessments
