The increasing frequency and intensity of disasters often
stretch the capacity of even the most developed countries
to provide assistance to their populations on their own.
The combined efforts of all actors is critically needed.
Too often lack of trust, insufficient legal frameworks to
deal with international assistance, and the challenges
of coordination due to a growing range of actors have
a negative impact on the quality and effectiveness of
responses to disasters.
The Disaster Response Dialogue is a platform bringing
together governments and humanitarian organizations
involved in international disaster response to improve
trust and mutual cooperation.
The Dialogue offers a facilitated space in which issues
of concern can be identified and discussed openly and
honestly, leading to practical solutions.
Our vision is a world where national, regional and
international disaster response actors work effectively
together, so that affected populations receive timely and
effective humanitarian assistance, on the basis of their
needs and with respect to human dignity.
