Mapping the Models: The Roles and Rationale of the Humanitarian Coordinator

Mapping the Models attempts to capture the views of a wide range of humanitarian actors about the most effective institutional model for a Humanitarian Coordinator. Based on interviews with 75 representatives of bilateral, multilateral and non-governmental organisations, Section I: Rationale for Alternative Humanitarian Coordinator Models focuses upon three models: (i) the joint Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator model; (ii) the stand-alone Humanitarian Coordinator model; and (iii) the extant capacity Humanitarian Coordinator model.
