This report aims to identify the socioeconomic roots of the crisis, quantify the crisis impact on development situation, analyse the government socioeconomic policy responses, and estimate the impact of sanctions. The motive of this report is to provide an evidenced based, policy oriented, socioeconomic analyses of the current crisis. It is using a comprehensive developmental framework based on the concept of development as “an expansion of people choices”, and to overcome the lack of rigorous’ and objective studies on the crisis.

The report targets people of Syria and policymakers to increase awareness of the catastrophic consequences of crisis continuation on Syria as country and to provide a basis to build participatory policy options towards a better development future of Syria.
