In 2009 two major disasters hit India within a short span of three months: Cyclone Aila in West Bengal in May 2009, and floods in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in October 2009. From October 20th until November, 3rd CARE distributed relief kits containing water purification tablets, jerry cans, soap, sanitary napkins, blankets and cooking utensils, for the victims of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka floods. An After Action Review Workshop to constructively analyze and draw lessons from the emergency responses provided by CARE in these two disasters was held in December 2009.
