The Story of RBA in CARE Sierra Leone - Demonstrating why a "rights-based approach" is a better way of conducting humanitarian endeavors.

 CARE has been working in Sierra Leone for over 40 years. In the early years it was known for its school feeding programmes and then for its work on improving basic infrastructure, such as roads, bridges and schools. Later, it broadened its development programme to include projects on improved agriculture, water and sanitation and preventative health care. The devastating civil war in the country (1991-2002) required that the organisation again turn its focus to immediate relief activities, whilst implementing transitional rehabilitation programmes where and when it could, often in extremely unstable and insecure conditions.
