The report summarises key findings and recommendations from across the Community Engagement Research and Learning Project, focusing on the following research questions:

  • What do we mean by community engagement?
  • What does community engagement look like in practice?
  • What are the barriers to and enablers of community engagement?
  • How can Action Against Hunger improve the implementation and documentation of community engagement?

The report brings together findings from the following standalone outputs: a literature review and interviews with people with in-depth knowledge or experience of community engagement across the humanitarian and development sectors; case studies on Action Against Hunger projects in Uganda and Madagascar; and interviews with senior decision-makers across the Action Against Hunger network.
