Learning Series: sticking points

08 Sep 2022

Evidence suggests the formal humanitarian system is ‘stuck’ on several key learning issues. On localisation, accountability to affected populations, and working across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, our sector is finding it hard to move forwards.

Despite many commitments, much conversation and an investment of resources, progress has been modest at best. At ALNAP, we call these issues sticking points.

Our Learning Series in late 2023 expands on our EXplain briefings, exploring localisation, accountability and the nexus in more depth, through publications and events that connect decision-makers with innovative ideas and new learning.

We know change is possible, and there have been times where the humanitarian system was able to make sudden leaps forward in its practice, embracing change for the benefit of those it serves, such as in the use of cash programming.  Many humanitarians are asking themselves what it will take for similar shifts in localisation, accountability and nexus approaches. Our Learning Series will present new evidence and analysis on these three core areas.

On this page, you will find details of upcoming events in our Learning Series on 'sticking points' - which will be happening between October and December 2023 - and links to all related publications and presentations.
