In its Programme Guide, Plan identifies child protection as one of eight areas of child rights to which it will contribute globally. Plan?s work in child protection has been growing in recent years, and the One Plan One Goal global strategy commits the organisation to become an authoritative global voice in this area by 2015. This Thematic Review was commissioned to provide an input to the development of clear, coordinated global approaches to child protection programming1 that are necessary to enable Plan to achieve this aim.

The objectives of the review were to assess Plan?s child protection programme strategies and interventions in the development setting (CPiD), and the extent to which these have contributed to an environment in which children are protected from all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence. The review covers the period from 2005 to 2011.
